What is this?
Saturday June 23rd
: Instead of the usual
Saturday
loop, we will have the annual Three Reservoirs Ride. Ride around all three (or two, or one) Indianapolis-area reservoirs: Eagle Creek, Geist, and Morse. Numerous distance options up to 125 miles with plenty of bail options. Riders have the option of doing just Eagle Creek (35 miles), Geist and Morse (95 miles), or all three (125 miles). There is an option
to cut the ride short for those not wanting to do the full third loop around Morse. Riders doing just Eagle Creek or all three will meet at the Nebo Ridge shop at
6AM.
This group will head to Eagle Creek and return to the shop shortly before
8AM
to pick up the rest of the riders. The pack will then hit Geist and continue to Morse. Average speed should be around 20 mph. The goal is to keep the pack together, so we'll try to keep the speed fairly steady. The first loop will be slightly faster. There are two SAGs with convenience stores at approximately mile 72 and mile 102.
As was the case last year, your intrepid editor/Three Res Ride Leader and TNR
Saturday
ride leader extraordinaire Dave Kaplan will conspire to keep the group together through all of the stoplights and traffic along 116th street and for the duration of the ride in general.
Please help us out--if we hold the pack up to let riders further back catch up, stay with us until the "All On" signal is given.
Last year we were able to get everyone over to Geist safely and in one bunch...that is our aim again this year!
DETOURS: the biggie this year is 116th between Clay Center and Spring Mill, early in the second leg of the ride. The detour will take us up Hoover Rd., through the Claridge Farm Subdivision, south on Clay Center for a bit, and then over to Spring Mill through the new Jacksons Grant Subdivision. Once we're through that, we'll follow exactly the same route we did last year across 116th (sans Hazel Dell detour) over to Geist and for the remainder of the ride.
I have pre-ridden or pre-driven all but the Eagle Creek loop as of this writing. If anyone knows of construction or other mayhem over that way that might be a problem, please send me an email at the address below.
